Hiking & Biking

The forests surrounding Big Bear Lake offer trails for hikers of all skill levels. For the adventurous, high peaks offer 360° panoramas.

All Big Bear hiking trails are pet-friendly. An Adventure Pass is required for parking at U.S. Forest Service trailheads.

Snow Play

Open space for free sledding and snow play abound. Big Bear also has three snow tubing areas with covered magic carpet rides through clear tunnels that transport riders to the top of the slope.

Insider Tip: Bring an extra change of clothes so no one has to ride back to the cabin in wet clothes.

Ski & Snowboard

During its peak snow season, Big Bear becomes a winter wonderland for residents across Southern California.

Big Bear Mountain Resort offers ski and snowboard lessons as well as gear rentals. Lift tickets can be reserved online or purchased at the ticket windows.

Snowshoeing

North Shore trails have panoramic views of the lake and ski slopes. Catch a tour or grab a map at the Big Bear Discovery Center.

If you’re up for a challenging spin through the snow covered backroads, Rent a fat tire bike at one of the local shops.

The Village

The Village is a quaint destination for boutique shops, local arts & crafts, and enjoying a meal.

The Village transforms for Halloween (don’t forget Oktoberfest!), and for Christmas in the Village where guests can pose for Santa photos, enjoy free cocoa, and groove to live music.
